Head of fish

Recently, I went to buy bole & fish, and unfortunately, the last fish head was taken by a young lady I met at the place, it was already being heated up. I have always loved fish head for various reasons. So I jokingly told the lady that there are some traditional beliefs suggesting that if a woman eats fish head in front of an elder man that wants it, it may bring some negative influences from the sea and even lead to infertility. The woman selling the bole & fish was surprised to hear this and the young lady took my words seriously. She got scared and asked if I wanted the fish head & even paid for it. While eating, I confessed to her that I made up the story just to have the fish head for myself. She was relieved and we ended up having a good laugh about it. The bole woman has always been my person but thanks to this incident, the young lady became my good friend and she even promised to get me another fish head next time.

I share this story to highlight how much I value and enjoy eating fish head, not only for their taste but also for their nutritional value, which I consider to be exceptional. And also to simply highlight the fish’s head in this writeup to emphasize that fish head is a specialty dish rather than treating the entire fish as a delicacy. You may now understand why most people prefer to eat fish head first if you’ve ever wondered why. The fact that fish brains are one of the healthiest fish organs will add weight to this argument.

Typically, people only consume fish’s bodies and discard their heads. In actuality, the fish head is much more nutrient-dense than the fish body.

One of the healthiest foods is fish heads, which are abundant in vitamins, minerals, and good fats.

In an article, "The nutritional value and health advantages of eating a fish head" by Dr. Anjali Phatak, Director Nutripulse and Senior Clinical Nutritionist, Nutripulse, Jaipur, he wrote:

In general, the fish brain benefits humans by offering some of the vital nutrients our bodies require. Due to the substance’s corrosive Omega-3 composition, it is extremely beneficial for improving cognition. Because the brain needs acid to support heart rhythm, it must be present.

1. Protein that’s good for you.

The fish head is a fantastic source of beneficial proteins. Comparing fish head to other meat products, saturated fat is present in lower amounts in fish head. Therefore, eating it won’t raise your cholesterol. You have a very low risk of developing cardiovascular conditions like heart attack and stroke if you choose to eat fish rather than red meat.

2. High in omega 3 fatty acids.

Omega 3 fatty acids are present in fish head in good amounts. In comparison to its body, the fish’s body contains more omega-3 fatty acids. These fatty acids guard your heart against diseases. According to all available research, eating foods rich in omega 3 fatty acids lowers cholesterol levels and lowers your risk of developing heart conditions like heart attacks, strokes, irregular heartbeats, etc.

3. Beneficial to the brain and eyes.

The brain and head of fish are also excellent sources of vitamin A. Having it is therefore advantageous for both your eyes and your brain. Your vision will be better and your eyes will stay healthy for a longer period of time thanks to vitamin A. The immune system can also benefit from vitamin A. In actuality, vitamin A combats free radicals and lowers oxidative stress because it is a natural antioxidant.

4. Anxiety and mental health.

According to research, eating foods rich in Omega 3 fatty acids and DHA helps to maintain brain health and guards against mental illnesses like stress and depression. Omega-3 fatty acids must be obtained from foods since your body is unable to produce them on its own. Omega 3 fatty acids, which are good for your health, are abundant in fishhead.

5. Arthritis and diabetes.

Due to the abundance of vital nutrients found in fishheads, it is also advantageous for people with diabetes and arthritis. Your immunity and metabolism are both improved by eating fish head. Along with this, eating fish head lowers your risk of developing autoimmune diseases.

"You are what you eat". Eat Fish Head to improve your health.

My Mum Planted Soursop

My mom planted this soursop plant in our compound. Being a hybrid plant, we expected it to start fruiting after a year.

The first year came, the plant now a shrub did not fruit. The second year came, this plant flowered, produced some fruits and all the fruit withered away. The third year came, and the plant flowered again but bore only one fruit.

So this year, my mom called me, with a cutlass in her hand she asked, "What did the Bible say about a tree that does not bear fruits?"

I looked at her and said, "The Bible says that any tree that does not bear fruit should be cut down and cast into the lake of fire."

She said good and pointed at the soursop tree. "I am going to cut down this tree since it has refused to bear fruit."

I rushed toward my mom and snatched the cutlass from her hand. I begged her not to cut the tree.

She told me to give her one reason why she should not cut down the tree. After searching for several reasons, I said to her, "Mommy, let us just give it one last chance. If it does not bear fruits this year, we will cut it down."

And she agreed.

This year, when it started raining, the soursop tree began to flower. I will always walk around the tree and whisper, "You know if you don't bear fruit this year you will be cut down. So prove yourself to the world."

I don't know, but I felt the universe heard my whispers to this tree because to everyone's surprise, this soursop bore more than twenty fruits and they all survived. We have been plucking and eating it.

I don't know what you will make out of this story. But this is my prayer for us in this EMBER period:

When the world calls us useless and unproductive, may the universe bring someone who will stand by us and say, let us give him/her a second chance.8

And when we are given a second chance, just like this soursop tree, may we multiply and produce beyond measure.

How Woman Delivers In A Country Without Payment.

I'm reading stories of women who are begging their husbands for money to pay for CS delivery.

Here is my take.

I live in a country where Healthcare is FREE. All my antenatal, childbirth (CS or vag), postnatal care, EVERYTHING is covered by the government. So, I don't get to pay a dime.

HOWEVER, if I lived in Nigeria where I had to pay for delivery, I'd go research how much it costs to do antenatal, delivery and postnatal care in a good hospital. Tell my husband or the person who will get me (or got me) pregnant, and have him save down that money.

If I'm carrying pregnancy, the LEAST you can do is pay for everything. I can't carry pregnancy and come and pay. The child isn't mine alone. So, what are you? Sperm donor?

I will also save my own money as BACKUP.

If on the delivery day, time to pay and you start talking shii, I'd use my money to pay to save myself and my baby, and ask the Nurse and doctors to kick you out for a start.

The child's last name will be MY NAME.

If we are married; divorce straight.

If we are not married, you will never see my pant again let alone me letting you get me pregnant again.

If you get me pregnant once and you don't treat me well, you will bear consequences, and you will never have the privilege of getting me pregnant again.

I don't understand women who claim that they got pregnant, their husbands treated them unkindly, then they go ahead to get pregnant by same man.

If a man didn't treat you well in your first pregnancy with his child, why would you go ahead to let him get you pregnant again? Make this make sense to me please.

Please Comment Ur experiences

A Lady Ones Said.

Just like many pregnant women, whenever I'm pregnant, I suffer serious food aversion.

Usually, without pregnancy, I cook about 80% of what me and my family eat because I love cooking. My husband cooks the rest or we eat out.

However, as soon as conception happens and I get pregnant, I begin to suffer food aversion.

I can't cook, and if I cook, I can't eat it. I would even feel like throwing the food in the bin.

In my first trimester of pregnancy with my son, I was in Nigeria. I woke up one morning and threw every food in the fridge/freezer away because the sight of them were irritating to me. I couldn't cook and we bought food, my husband or his relatives cooked.

I spent second and third trimesters in Canada till I had my baby.

I saved up some money to enjoy my pregnancy, about $2,000. ALL the money went on ordering foods. My husband added extra money for me to keep using to order food since he wasn't around to cook, and even if he was around, he might finish cooking and I wouldn't like it.

For me, food aversion is worse in the first half of my pregnancy.

Now that I'm planning to get pregnant again, I've saved up $3,000 to buy food. I've forced my husband to give me at least $3,000 because nah him give me bellΓ© and he has to make sure I eat. He has paid part into my account, and will pay the rest. After he balances the money, then I can open legs to collect another one.

The three things I hate most about pregnancy are 1. Food aversion,  2. Heartburn and 3. Nausea.
I'm a foodie who loves quality food. Imagine me ditching jollof rice for oil-less Okra, ditching beans for mashed potatoes and cheese. Just be craving yeye things because I'm pregnant.
Or the heartburn. I love pepper. But I usually stop eating pepper as soon as I get pregnant because for every meal with pepper I eat, I suffer heartburn for 24-hours. My doctor prescribes a medication for me to reduce heartburn.

I told my husband that if men could get pregnant, nothing anyone would have told me to do this. He would have been the one to carry the pregnancy.

If I had the option, I'd prefer to pay 100% bills and still do chores. All my partner has to do is carry pregnancy and do minor chores.

So, as soon as I carry bellΓ©, I'd stop paying bills till I give birth. Because the thought of going through that journey for another 9 months ehn. But, I have to because I want a second baby.

My pregnancy taught me that one of the best questions you can ask a pregnant woman is "WHAT DO YOU WANT TO EAT?"

When I was pregnant with my son, I had two friends that would call me often to ask "Nk, what do you want to eat?" One was a cook, he would cook anything I mention and bring to me. The other one nor dey enter kitchen. She knows my food plugs, so she would usually just send money to them to deliver to me anything I say I want to eat.

Since after I had my baby, if I see a pregnant woman I am close to, as much as possible, I cook for her or buy her food.
Because, the best gift you can give to me when I'm pregnant is FOOD or money to buy FOOD prepared to my specifications.

Call that pregnant woman today and ask her what she wants to eat. Then, COOK FOR HER or BUY HER FOOD.

All the people who cooked for me or bought me food when I was pregnant earned a special spot in my heart.

Moral of the story...
Nor be sey I dey tell una sey I don carry o, but come to my inbox today and ask me "Nk, what do you want to eat?"
If you live in Canada, I can give you the contact of my food plug so that you can pay for the food.
If you live in Winnipeg, you can cook it yourself or order for me.
If you live outside Canada, just send me money.

At this point in my life, FOOD is the most important thing to me.

Plover Bird And Crocodile

Plover bird is a friend of  Crocodile.  Crocodile needs after each of its fatty meals to keep its teeth clean from the remnants of food, which can remain for long periods of time & harm the crocodile. But it is a wonderful creation of the Creator - the Great architect of the universe - to grant  crocodile it's own skilled doctor, who is known as *plover bird*.  ‎This bird hovers in places where crocodiles are present, and as soon as crocodile finishes eating its meal, it opens its mouth so that its little doctor stands on its lower jaw and brushes its teeth very skillfully. The bird gets a delicious meal, and the crocodile gets clean teeth!   ‎Who taught this crocodile not to close its mouth on the plover?!   ‎This is free reciprocal safe pragmatism !!!  ‎ Who taught the bird to stand on the mouth of the crocodile with such boldness, knowing that it will not eat it?

We need each other ,no matter how highly placed; enjoy.

President Idi Amin once wanted to change the name of Uganda to "Idi".

Except for one man, Maliyamungu, everybody else who was close to him feared to challenge that decision!

Maliyamungu said to him, "Your Excellency Sir, have you heard of a country called 'Cyprus'?"

With a surprised look, Amin asked, "What has Cyprus got to do with my decision to change our country's name to 'Idi'?"

Maliyamungu said, "Well, the people of Cyprus are called Cypriots. If you change Uganda to 'Idi', all of us, including you, will be called 'Idiots'! So, please, let's maintain our current name!"

Idi Amin said, "Aaah...! Maliyamungu! You are very intelligent! In fact, more intelligent than everyone in Uganda except me! Let's leave it!"```

He could have lost his life for expressing his view, and we would have had idiots as fellow Africans.

Even now, don't keep your views to yourself. Express yourself. Remember that even the dead clock is correct twice everyday.

Treat Ur Wife Softlyn.

 Aristoplana.

Before I married my wife, I was advised by a senior friend of mine not to allow my wife stress herself unnecessarily.

He said, anything money can do for you to make your wife relax, pay for it and don't stress your wife.

That evening, while I was discussing with my fiancèe, I shared my friend's thoughts with her.

And she was so happy.

She said, " Exactly oh, I no just wan tell you, make you no feel say, I lazy"

That minute, I assured her she won't clean the house or even wash clothes as my wife.

She was so happy.

IB too like soft life🀣

Fortunately, we got a good help after marriage.

We both agreed she will not live with us.

She would come in the morning,  close by 2pm everyday.

Except, when my wife wants to cook, the help will stay back to arrange things, running errands and wash plates thereafter.

She agreed.

Also, we opted for a washing machine.

And so far, na me dae mostly do the laundry.

I wrote this because, those days, when we see maids in people's houses, we refer to the wives as lazy.

Unknown to us that wives are priceless.

Gone are those days, when we use chores to measure the wife materialness of a woman.

Na poverty mentality be that.
